We have a full time experienced and qualified Community Development Outreach Worker who provides a broad range of supports and services to individuals and groups in the Community. Sinéad is available for Employment Support, Advice and Advocacy on housing and welfare issues, Support and Advice on further education and skills courses, and assisting you with any forms you may need help filling out.
Sinéad also facilitates a number of groups in the centre and is happy to support and facilitate any new groups that you would like to form in the community. Likewise, if you have an idea for a community project or initiative, she would be delighted to help you get it off the ground.
Community Networks and Projects
Cobh Family Resource Centre prides itself on it’s strong links with the community and other organisations and groups working in Cobh. Staff from the centre are active members of several networks and community groups at local and regional level, promoting collaboration between organisations and coming together to improve services and raise awareness of issues facing our clients.
Cobh FRC are part of the Community Support Network (CSN) in Cobh along with Slí Nua Mental Health services, Citizens Information, Cobh Youth Services, YMCA, Cobh Community College, HSE Community Dept., Shine Mental Health, Cobh Active Retirement Group, and the Cobh Adult Learning Centre. The CSN began and continue to organise the popular Vitality Mental Health and Well-being Day which now takes place annually on the Promenade in Cobh every Summer.
Cobh FRC are also involved in The Great Island Community Forum which is a community and voluntary group made up of eleven pillars with nominated and elected representatives for each pillar. It is a cooperative platform for sharing ideas, information and organising events to benefit people on Great Island. Jo-Anne our coordinator is a representative for Community Supports and Services on the forum, and Sinéad represents Carers’ groups and Services. Cobh FRC are also actively involved in the Cork Children and Young People’s Services Committee whose aim is to provide better outcomes for children and young people in the area through more effective integration of existing services and interventions. For more information see here

Cobh FRC are also a member of the Cork FRC regional forum which is a smaller network of family resource centres located around Cork county who meet on a regular basis to share ideas, information and support one another in their work.
