Cobh Family Resource Centre group evolved from an open meeting which was held in Cobh in June 1998. The Preschool Service commenced in 2003 along with the Afterschool Service. The Board of Management proudly opened the doors to the centre officially in 2006, by Minister Seamus Brennan.
It has grown to now to include many services which support families in our local community.

The current Work Plan (2017-2020), as with previous Work Plans, is driven by the needs of the community and aligned with the National Policy Framework Outcomes ‘Better Outcomes, Brighter Futures’ 2014-2020.

Based on Community Development principles, Cobh Family Resource Centre provides family support, using a universal approach to encompass the whole family and individuals.

“Family" is the set of close personal relationships which link people together – sometimes in the same household, sometimes across different households, and almost always involving different generations – especially but not exclusively the relationship between parents and their children.

The approach of Cobh Family Resource Centre is to support and empower individuals, build on family strengths, enhance self-esteem and engender a sense of being able to influence events’ in one’s life . We focus on early intervention with the aim of promoting health and well-being of individuals and families within the community.
