The Men’s group at Cobh Family Resource Centre has been running for the past few years and Monday mornings wouldn’t be the same without them. The group currently meets weekly, on a Monday morning at 9.30am, and one evening a month for Movie Night.
The group welcomes men with mental health difficulties or anyone with free time on their hands and would something to do on a Monday morning. Some of the aims of the group include trying new things, making friends, being healthy and active, minding physical and mental health, learning new skills for everyday living, getting out of the house and doing things, and enjoying themselves. The group is facilitated by Sinéad and ideas for activities are led by the group.
Activities include things like art & ceramics, light exercise and walking, cooking and baking together, monthly movie nights, puzzles and crossword mornings, visiting other Men’s groups, going to talks, outings such as quad-biking and visiting local heritage sites, and much more… We also occasionally invite guest speakers and organisations to chat to the group about their work and services, such as MABS budgeting service and Men’s health organisations. Below are some photos of group activities from over the last few years.
Men of all ages are welcome. New members are always welcome to come along and try out the group. Or if you’d like to know a bit more about the group before hand, contact Sinéad at the centre.
