We are looking forward to another term of adult education hobby & leisure courses here at CFRC and are also excited to tell you about a new QQI accredited training course.
This term's short hobby & leisure courses will include Decoupage, Computers for beginners, and Oil Painting. Due to a very active and enthusiastic cycling community in Cobh we will be offering a Bicycle Maintenance workshops over 4 evenings here at CFRC.
We will also be running a new and exciting 8 week 'Healthy Eating and Habits for Life' course one evening a week which will include modules on nutrition, movement, relaxation techniques, and stress management. The course will be facilitated by Anneline, who as well as being the Coordinator here at the centre is also a qualified Dietary Counselor and a student of Nutritional Therapy at the Institute of Health Sciences. Anneline has years of experience and is passionate about using food to maintain a healthy body and mind. Guest facilitators will teach relaxation and mindfulness modules to support a healthy lifestyle.
As before, most of the above courses will be funded by the Cork Education and Training Board meaning that participants pay a very low cost fee on registration to cover the cost of materials and other expenses. Most classes will cost only €15 for the entire 6 weeks however some courses may cost slightly more due to extra materials (see below). Please also see below for a timetable of classes.
Registration for classes will take place on Thursday 1st September from 5-8 pm at Cobh Family Resource Centre. Places will be given on a first come, first served basis and fees must be paid on registration to secure your place. To make sure courses are open to everyone we will not be holding spaces or taking names in advance.
We are also excited to tell you about a new course beginning in October. The QQI level 5 Manual & Computerised Payroll course is ideal for anyone interested in working in an administrative or office role. The QQI (new FETAC) accredited course will take place over four Fridays in October at CFRC and will be facilitated by GPA Solutions training providers. Participants should have a QQI Level 4 with basic keyboard and numeracy skills. The course is open to everyone and eligible jobseekers may receive full funding.
